I look forward to sharing my experiences and insights with you.
System design
Bachelor project for JDN Group
To complete my bacherlor degree at UGent my team created a software solution for Jan De Nul Group from scratch. A drone flies above buoys with a sensor suite including GPS and a live camera feed. This information is later used to triangulate the GPS coordinates.
Computer Graphics
Natural scene in Three.js
The end of year project for my Computer Graphics course. This project uses the Three.Js framework to bring a virtual world to life. The project is available online and includes multiple demos. In addition to purely graphical shaders the projected also touches on other topics such as boids (swarm behavior), procedural terrain generation with LOD's and general system design. Balancing visual appearance with performance was key.
System design
Quarkus Java Project
In my last year at the UGent I developed a large scale distributed application in Java as part of my system design class. It simulates the backend of a museum. Users can book guided tours, security take up posts in shifts and curators manage exhibitions.

Master Thesis 2023 - Master of Science in Information Engineering Technology
I was fortunate enough to take on my joint thesis at the Infusion research unit at UGent. I completed it together with my talented colleague-student Casper Haems. The paper itself is unfortunately under an embargo until it gets cleared by JET. I can however say that I got a 18/20 and that a paper that will be published is currently being written based on our research.
Computer Vision
(Sm)Art Path: indoor localization through painting recognition
This UGent project uses computer vision algorithms to figure out the location of the user in a museum based on a video. The user walks around the museum and films his surroundings. Based on this video and a pre-existing database of paintings an algorithm calculates the probable location. An estimation for the path is also presented.
Virtual Army
Java project for DevOps
This project was part of my Devops course. The class was divided into teams that competed against each other in an online turn based strategy game. The best teams got extra marks on their final exam!
Astrophotography ðŸ”
Pictures, DIY barn door tracker, code
I've been taking pictures of the night sky since 2018. I also made my own rotating platform to take long exposure photographs. Build instructions, code and talks are available here.
3D printing
In my spare time I also enjoy 3D modeling as a creative outlet. My main focus are functional parts: parts for my telescope, holders, rasppberry pi cases etc...
